WHAT: The Local Vendor Fair provides an opportunity for Louisiana producers and growers to pitch their products to Whole Foods Market. Participation is by appointment only.

Louisiana Local Forager Kelly Landrieu notes, “Louisiana is known for its amazing food and culture, and we are excited about the opportunity to showcase the local producers and their stories in our stores.”

In 2006, Whole Foods Market set aside $10 million to help local producers through low-interest loans for capital expenditures. The Local Producer Loan Program (LPLP) minimizes fees, interest rates and paperwork.

In Louisiana, Matt Ranatza Farms received an LPLP loan to fund a new packing storage shed for increased washing and packing operations efficiency. Ranatza shared, “This assistance from Whole Foods will enable my family to continue to provide the freshest quality fruits and vegetables from South Louisiana.”

The family-run farm is known for their locally-grown tomatoes, strawberries, citrus and other vegetables available at the Baton Rouge and New Orleans stores. Matt Ranatza has worked with the Whole Foods Market Louisiana stores for nearly 14 years and is beloved for the quality and freshness of his produce.
